Traffic for 100 Artists Project has been low so I thought I'd take some time to play a bit a find a way to update all the networks the 100AP is a part of. If this works it should update most of them. For the rest I'll be hiring lemurs.

100 Artists Project Round 2

  • Aug. 13th, 2008 at 3:41 PM

After many months of promises and false starts, the second round of the 100AP is underway. Please visit the main site for all the details.

What's New?

www.100artistsproject.com

I've broken up the original projects and have added a few more. The mail in 100 now ties in to the CBLDF and the sketchbook goes to Hero. The new ones are the 25 piece youth project supporting the International Child Art Foundation, the 50 piece digital art supporting the Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education and the Moleskine book supporting the Center for Cartoon Studies.

The sign up page is active and I'll be sending out emails to the charities as well as some studios to drum up interest. If you're part of this community already, you've probably submitted work for volume one and all I ask is that you help talk up the relaunch anywhere you can.

Thanks for your continued support.

Promotional

  • Oct. 30th, 2007 at 10:05 AM

Thanks to the relentless input by soon to be contributor Chris Tinkler, I've thrown together a promotional flier people can print off and take to their local comic shops.

http://www.100artistsproject.com/promo.pdf

(The artwork on the flier is care of Rodrigo Laiz, Eric Schock and David Montoro, chosen at random.)

Please, print a few out. Take them to book stores, comic shops, record stores, coffee shops, any place the would support art.

I'll also be blitzing a few more sites today to spread the word. I expect we'll be done soon with the Single Mailer so I want to make sure folks know about the artwork soon to be available and the cause.

Carry on.

80 Artists!

  • Oct. 17th, 2007 at 9:16 AM

Folks, we've only got 20 spots left for the 100 Artists Project Single Mailer phase.  To date I've received 80 pieces of art, I'm very excited.

However, we still have 20 to go so if you want to get your piece in the first book, you'll have to do it soon.  Don't wait, visit the site, get the info and send in some work.  If you've been siting on the fence or putting it off thinking you have time, now's the time to do it.

Big thanks to all those people who've sent work in, you've shown real moxy getting involved in a project like this and I applaud you.

Carry on.

100 Artists Group

  • Oct. 8th, 2007 at 2:25 PM

So I'm going to start cross posting all the 100 Artists Project stuff on more than just Blogger. I might try the MySpace journal and the ComicSpace bulletin as well. It's going to be a lot of redundant work, but it's all for a good cause.

So please, feel free to check out the LJ group and join up, and if you haven't, submit some art to the project.

Cheers.

100 Artists Project

  • Apr. 7th, 2007 at 9:11 AM

Inspired by the 1000 Journal project, I've started an endeavor called The 100 Artists Project. The goal is to collect original cartoon, comic book, illustrative or graphic art and auction it off for organizations that support comic artists; The CBLDF and the Hero Initiative. The project consists of two phases: One, each artist sends in a piece of art which are scanned and then bound. The bound book is auctioned and the scanned art is sold online. Two, and the more ambitious, is a single sketchbook that is mailed to all 100 artists, each adding a sketch or drawing or illustration in turn. That book will also be scanned, then auctioned off as well as published.

It's a big project but the end results and the reasons we're doing it should be well worth it. We're just over 50 artists right now and could use some fresh blood.

My email is in the thread and if you have any questions, feel free to post there or shoot me an email. Thanks for your time.

Tagged

  • Aug. 27th, 2006 at 6:18 PM

Someone knows how to make me post here.

The rules:

Once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog with six random facts about yourself.
In the end you need to choose six people to be tagged and list their names.

Uno: I have a bright orange Beaker tee-shirt.
Dos: I have an actual LP of ABBA: The Singles, which oddly is a double album.
Tres: I've purposefully let my kids eat lemons as small kids just to see the faces they make.
Cuatro: The biggest prize I ever won was when I was 12. I won a spot on a local TV commercial accepting the prize, a 4ft inflatable godzilla, a small camera, and a few cases of Dr. Pepper.
Cinco: The only other known "Ben" in my entire family bloodline was none other than Benedict Arnold.
Seis: My first screen name on the internet was "chimaera." It was too girly so I changed it later to Muad'Dib.

And seeing as I don't have many contacts here, let's just do this.

Submission

Hey!

I submitted a tee shirt design called Appreciation
to Threadless.com to be voted on and hopefully printed.

If I get enough high scores the shirt will be printed and
sold from the site and I will win some prizes. Take a look
at it and if you like it, sign up and give it a score.

URL: http://www.threadless.com/submission/84344/Appreciation

Thanks!

P.S. I'm sure Threadless would be happy if you bought a tee too! ;)

Thirty One Hobo Flavors

  • Jul. 22nd, 2006 at 4:47 PM

I don't know if anyone reads Boing Boing, but our little project got a mention in passing. Apparently someone else is taking the time to semantically organize the Hobo list, catagorizing by how many have missing limbs, who has hats, if any animals were involved, etc. I was hoping to get a mention merely because we're very close to the half way point at 350, and the bump from Boing Boing and del.icio.us brought in a lot of new folks.

Also, be a friend and digg it too, or do any of the above to the Flickr group.

So here are my latest four.

A Day In The Life

  • Jul. 20th, 2006 at 9:13 AM

Mrs. A had a neat idea. What if we took our cameras around with us all day and took pictures of what we did on a regular day. We would start from when we first wake up and go until we turn the lights off. Her and Mr. Rob agreed that it'd be cool and she then invited me to participate, and so A Day In The Life was born.

You can see my photostream of the day here. You can see Mrs. A's photos here. You can see Rob's photos here. I think it's a groovy idea. It didn't generate a lot of quality photos per se, but it did force me to think about what's important to relay to the viewer. Maybe this will be the next big Flickr group, I can see a ton of photos being added after each day.

So if you have a Flickr account, I'd suggest doing this at least once. I can see us doing this again in a few years, see if anything's changed.

Hoboes a'plenty.

Let's see how many I can put in here.
